I think it still shows how we always used them. Even though we went to them to "help" them with the diabetes we did not. Just like putting Indians on reservations was to "help" them. Also the amount of money is I feel is wrong. If it was something related to a white community the money would have been in the millions of dollars. Not 700,000.
ReplyDeletei agree with antonio. they're being used like lab rats. "study for diabetes" i think thats a load because who are these people...a small tribe in the middle of nowhere...so its like whose going to really look into by there blood is beind tooken or the people beind taken again for studies. and its like your only giving them 700,000 dollars after taken members of the tribe and our blood, this type of thing wouldnt even have happened to a white community and if so it would be used for what they said it would be used for
ReplyDeletei dont think its such a big deal.. it wouldnt have happened in a white community because we know all about them already, its already been done to white people. the only reason it was such a violation was because blood means a lot to the tribe. but i dont think the researchers were looking to harm them, they just used the wrong approach and methods. im sure they didnt think they were taking advantage because that wasnt their intention. they probably thought it wouldnt affect them so much... anyway, the deed is done, and now researchers know they have to be more specific when getting someones blood sample.
